Experimental investigation and modelling of the structural behaviour of confined grouted interfaces for a new steelヨconcrete connection

چکیده
Confined interfaces between cement grout and other materials such as embossed steel or rough concrete are formed in an innovative new steel-concrete connection for composite bridges. This article presents the experimental study of such interfaces and investigates the laws obtained from an analytical study, which describe the behaviour of those interfaces subjected to shear loading, static and cyclic, under different levels of constant normal stress. The laws describing the interface behaviour in monotonic shear loading are: (a) the relationship between the ultimate shear and the normal stress acting on the interface, i.e. the failure criterion, (b) the shear stress–slip relationship of the interface, called hereafter the constitutive law and (c) the relationship between the transverse separation (uplift) of the interface and the slip in the interface, called hereafter kinematic law. Concerning cycle shear loading, tests on interfaces enabled damage determination due to repeated loading. This damage is expressed by the development of an accumulated residual slip in the interface. Results indicate that as long as the applied shear stress in the interface, during cyclic loading, remains inferior to the elastic shear limit for static loading, the residual slip stabilizes with the number of cycles. A safe fatigue failure criterion is proposed relating the accumulated slip with the value of the slip at shear failure of the interface for static loading. The proposed laws together with the law describing the development of the confinement constitute the necessary input for a model to predict the behaviour of an innovative connection consisting of such confined grouted interfaces. 2014 Elsevier Ltd. NEW RCS Frame Connection in Structures
Hybrid moment frame come together with reinforced concrete columns with structural steel beams (RCS). This Composite system provides several key advantages over current steel or concrete moment resisting frame. Past studies have shown this system to be efficient in both design and building stage while able to keep sufficient strength and necessary ductility in seismic zone.Although past researc...

The composite structural system (RCS) is a new type of moment frame, which is including a combination of concrete columns (RC) and steel beams (S). These structural systems have the advantages of both concrete and steel frames [1]. In previous research on composite structures, there are some studies regarding RCS composite conections, but there is no investigation about seismic resisting system...

This paper presents a new model for predicting the compressive strength of steel-confined concrete on circular concrete filled steel tube (CCFST) stub columns under axial loading condition based on Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) by using a large wide of experimental investigations. The input parameters were selected based on past studies such as outer diameter of column, compressive strength...
متن کاملComputational and Experimental Mechanical Modelling of a Composite Grouted Splice Sleeve Connector System
Owing to its controllable tolerance, simple operation and no need for welding at construction site, the composite system involving grouted cement material, steel material and ductile iron material is widely used as grouted splice sleeve (GSS) connector for connecting precast concrete structures. However, the current design recommendations for such a composite connection system do not accurately...

Brittleness, which was the inherent weakness in High Strength Concrete (HSC), can be avoided by reinforcing the concrete with discontinuous fibers. Reinforcing HSC with more than one fiber is advantageous in an overall improvement of the mechanical performance of the composite. In this experimental study, Hybrid Fiber Reinforced High Strength Concrete (HyFR-HSC) mixes were formed by blending si...
